Asbestos Surveys – HSE warning regarding asbestos exposure.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is warning that firms exposing workers to asbestos would be penalised. It added suitable asbestos awareness training to employees or face prosecution. An asbestos survey (Refurbishment/demoltion or Managment) will locate, assess and assist in the management of acm (asbestos containing material) within a property. To comply with regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 any acm within a non-domestic property should be effectively managed to prevent the danger of exposure to asbestos fibres. The asbestos survey should be made available to anyone who could be working in the area where the acm is located i.e. tradesmen, external contractors, in-house maintenance staff, staff in-situ (e.g. teachers), etc. More information on asbestos surveys and the Duty to Manage Asbestos in Non-Domestic premises is available from the HSE. Please contact ACM surveys if you would like an asbestos survey or would like some advice on whether you should have an asbestos survey report carried out on your property.
