Do you have ASBESTOS awareness? Where could ASBESTOS be in your home?

Any property built or refurbished before the year 2000 could potentially contain asbestos.
An asbestos survey will help identify these potential health risks and recommend how to manage them safely. ACM Surveys Ltd can help you find, record, monitor and manage asbestos safely & effectively in all properties (domestic and commercial).
The information below shows examples of where asbestos could be hiding in your property.
1. Water Tank: Can be made of asbestos cement and is often found in older houses (pre 1980).
2. Pipe Lagging: Asbestos insulation on pipes. Used to keep heat in or cold out. Often painted over or protected by outer coating so not obviously asbestos. Can be asbestos paper, hand applied insulation, asbestos textiles.
3. House Insulation: Loose asbestos can be found as insulation in wall and floor cavities and in lofts.
4. Textured coating (e.g. ARTEX): Can be found in the decorative coating on ceilings and walls. Popularly know as ARTEX (Asbestos Reinforced Textured coating)
5. Toilet cisterns and seats: Both can contain asbestos-reinforced plastic/resin composite materials. Usually found in the old black reinforced plastic sanitary ware (sometimes the cisterns are painted cream)
6. Wall Panelling: Asbestos can be found as wall cladding both internally and/or externally, particularly around windows. Can be either asbestos insulation board or asbestos cement.
7. Fuse box: Often found in halls or under stairs, each fuse wire can have an individual asbestos textile flash guard. The fuse box may also contain an asbestos textile gasket seal. Panels behind the fuse box can be asbestos insulation board or asbestos cement.
8. Heater Cupboard: The panels surrounding a domestic boiler often contains asbestos insulating board. The pipe work may also have asbestos lagging.
9. Sinks: Black acoustic resin pad beneath stainless steel sink basins and drainers
10. Floor coverings: Vinyl and thermoplastic floor tiles/overlay can contain asbestos. The tile backing may also contain asbestos paper. The bitumen adhesive used may also contain asbestos.
11. Rainwater items: Roof gutters and down pipes can often be made of asbestos cement.
12. Roof: Cement roof tiles and corrugated cement roof panels can both contain asbestos.
13. Roof: Fascia and soffits can be made of asbestos insulation board and/or asbestos cement.
